The birthday blog.

it may have been two days late, but it's not every year that we get to turn 25. :) and since one picture (even with multiple frames!) is not enough for me to be able to share all the things that I did to celebrate entering a quarter in my life, hence this blog :)

and so let me share what I cannot share with just one picture :p

Pre-birthday dinner with the family at Super Bowl, Robinson Manila
super early birthday song, birthday noodles, birthday dumplings and birthday ice cream. yay!

In my 25 years of existence, I have always appreciated the importance of family :) and even if they were not physically present on my very birthday, in my heart i know that we are always together. :) plus mama and papa gave me a very special gift, na sabi nga ni brother, 'jusko, 25 ka na, kung maka-yey ka para kang high school'. e bakit ba. hahaha. love you three :)

THE MIND MUSEUM EXPERIENCE

From the time I learned about the mind museum at Taguig, I have always wanted to go and visit. You see, the scientist in my heart (deep deep down) becomes very giddy and excited about going to science exhibits. ahihi. and yey for the time and the perfect schedule, that I was able to visit the mind museum with the best friend who shares, and actually exceeds the geeky-ness in me.

Mind Museum, Yey!:)

The area where we first played around, and where I already thought our money was worth it was an exhibit about Science in the Philippines. It definitely made me kilig because of the following:

now you see where the science excitement comes :p

the museum has five galleries: universe, earth, life, atom and technology. As the resident chemist/museum person said in his orientation, the exhibits at the first floor is designed in such a way that we see the large view of things eventually zooming to the smaller things. while the technology exhibit is more of our application with what we have gathered in the past.

The Universe is about, well the universe. the galaxy. the planets. the forces making the universe the universe.

listening to space sounds.

The Earth gallery is about the evolution of the earth and the different species inhabiting our planet.

the interactive globe. I want one. in my future home someday. for myself.

"If your bones were discovered someday, what stories would they tell?"

Robert: Ang cool! dinosaur fossils talaga to?
Anne: I guess. fossil daw e.
*looks at label*
Ay tae. Hahaha.

easy! don't you think?:p

Robert digging fossils or just playing in the sand.

Life is about life and the human body. If only the different interactive exhibits are available as learning materials, it would have been really easy to study :p

it's not a whale and not a shark, it's actually a fish! :))

 brain! big braiiin!

i did. :p

The atom gallery is showcasing a series of interactive exhibits portraying various science principles that we now know today - physics and chemistry wise. the chemist in me got really kilig with the big periodic table which I also want in my home someday. :p

the hair raising effect of Science in us :p

Making chemical structures. Glucose. or something close to it. I miss Chem <3

cause everything is made of atoms. and i love chocolates. and he loves eating. haha.

Finally, the technology exhibit on the second floor, is all about the present. where we are in terms of technology and as mentioned, what we have done with the data that we know :)

and then we were bored. :p

I love the exhibit with the songs from the various years and the laser harp as well :)

All in all, the mind museum experience was a good one, because we were able to appreciate each working exhibit and the science that comes with it. It may have been a better experience if the exhibits were more properly maintained.

The three hour experience inside the museum was also more than enough, in fact i was already tired at the end of the fifth gallery. but it was a bit sad that we were not able to watch the shows inside. Well, duty rin kasi ako ng 7 pm, so di rin pwede magextend :p There is also a science in the park, also with interactive learning shiz. but as mentioned, duty ako and i think it would have been a nicer experience if we are with the inaanaks :)

We also visited the Da Vinci Exhibit which really taught me a lot about Da Vinci's works and life. And wow, he was really such a genius.

with Da Vinci's self portrait

This is a required photo-op because I am a medical student and I should love anatomy. :p

According to the exhibit: Da Vinci's drawings were the basis for the Gray's Anatomy book.

Robert and Physics, two things too difficult for me :p

Da Vinci was definitely a lot more than anatomy and physics. and after this exhibit visit, I now know how he is also more than just Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. He also gave the foundation for flight, hydraulics, music and optics, military and of course the arts. If only history is taught with museum visits and the like, it may have not been my waterloo. :p

my most favorite tarp in the Da Vinci exhibit is a list of epigrams he wrote like this.

" Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work, your judgement will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen."
Thus, the need for detox :p

THE BIRTHDAY DAY

As mentioned, I was on duty 7 pm of November 3 to 7 am of November 4. making it my first time to actually welcome my birthday at the hospital. And well, I was blessed with benign-ness, which was even multiplied during the birthday :D We only had one consult for the whole shift. yay!:)

There is definitely something about birthdays when you feel like nothing wrong can ever happen. And that you just cant stop smiling and be happy, in spite of anything. :)

and for the longest time, that day was also the day when I was most calm and actually not in a hurry to finish things. i think, it was the most peaceful I've ever been since clerkship started, how I wish everyday can be a birthday day, then I'd be not as agit as I think I am. haha.

It was a simple day, starting with some post-duty sleep. home-made lunch. a surprise cake. and eventually being a responsible adult and using the free time to go to the bank and process the manager's check for my LAST enrollment in medical school (hooray!).

It was then followed by hearing mass and eating dinner at a korean restaurant with unlimited kimchi that I can actually eat. haha. and again ending my day with another good night sleep :)

of course, continuously feeling loved and blessed all through the day :)

BIRTHDAY THANK YOUS

Thank you for all the greetings, they all made my day :) Thank you to those who remembered, I feel so blessed :)

Thank you Tito Robert for the surprise birthday cake. and for the fact that you gave Robert a hard time in thinking what gift to give to me :p

Tito Robert's surprise birthday cake :)

Thank you roomates for the post birthday celebration :D

Cake from the Roomies, Hazel and Cza. :)

Thank you Robert for all the effort and for simply always being there these past years. I feel so lucky and blessed for having you in my life :)

Thank you Mama, Papa and Babam for all the love and care, no matter the distance :) And for the gift of understanding that you gave me for this particular birthday :p Love you all :)

The Preparation.

How do you put 100 days of preparation, 4 days of examination and 3 days of waiting in one blog entry? You can’t. Haha. So I’m making this a 3 part entry. That very long hiatus from writing and this heart full of emotions had led me craving to write my heart out. So indulge me. I don’t think I would be able to encapsulate all the emotions in that one of a kind journey which led me to where I am today. But I would still try because having that experience is something that I would love to look back to (definitely not do again) but something that I would like to read about when I feel like strolling down my memory lane. It started the day after the review center (Topnotch medical board prep) orientation where we were welcomed with a wake-up call, the board examination is about three months away - 106 days to be exact. Will it be enough? Probably. And then came the diagnostic exams where in there was really the doubt of whether it will be enough.  Parang hindi . But it was...

Life Lesson #50: of secrets and lies

I woke up hearing a story, of how everything would end. Of trust issues, and lies and secrets getting piled up to destroy something special, something sacred, something we thought was worth fighting for. Why hurt each other when you vowed to love each other eternally? It says that with love comes pain but when do you say that you've suffered enough? When do you draw the line of loving and letting go? Love. Prayer. Hope. That's all left to do when everything starts falling apart. Continue loving cause in love we may find forgiveness, pray cause in Him we'll never be wrong and hope that there will always be a better future ahead.
