clerkship :)

3 days post the real end of clerkship and I finally have the time to write about its end :)

Clerkship gave me a lot of learning and memories to treasure and i hope my words and the pictures i grabbed from a lot of people would suffice in trying to give tribute to the year that was :p

Join me in my journey of remembering the days of clerkship :)

which actually starts with TradMed as my summer elective. I was able to document the 20 days of tradmed in my instagram account, and i am posting this as a representative of tradmed because it's my most favorite picture :p dahil sabi ko nga sa caption ko which is not seen in this particular screenshot: 'the PBB fan in me is happy.' ta[ps lumabas pa siya kagabi sa biggest loser. haha.

and look, it's 46 weeks ago :o taking my elective during the summer was the best decision i've made for clerkship. :) learning about the different treatment modalities and actually experiencing them first hand made that summer elective really enjoyable :)

and then we were welcomed with our first hospital rotation: Surgery :) A lot of people often commented on how we were lucky and that Surgery was technically the 'easiest' rotation among the big 4 to start with. And now that I look back, it was actually true. Surgery was a great venue to start learning the ropes within the hospital with the many referrals, the many papers that we need to accomplish and the sakto lang procs difficulty level :) although it was really shocking when we started working out our upper body strength with the many many assists and retractions that we have to do any time of any day. Perhaps that is one thing I am dreading for internship considering that we would be having a clerkless surgery rotation :o

SOD post on one of our delivery dinners - food of that night: Aristocrat :)

This is also the first rotation when our work ethics as clerks were tested, when we first learned what it meant to be post duty and actually still do something during your post duty day, and when I actually proved how much of a benign magnet I am :p during my only trauma duty, our duty team had CBR - complete bed rest until about 4 am. :p

one of the best callrooms in the whole of clerkship, and the coolest and most comfortable for a post-duty day. :) my post surgery rotation ig post. and yes, pinapatulog naman nila ako :p

and then there was DEMS - Emergency Medicine wherein we learned to do procedures and be resourceful and when we learned the importance of the stash which no matter how much the consultant coordinators discourage the use of stash, well we basically can't survive in PGH without our own stash.

(I guess) only in PGH: IV lining followed by catching blood. and yes, sadly without gloves. :o And of course no matter how much we strive for the ideal, sometimes we are actually left with no choice but to do things in the very least ideal way *sigh*

No pictures for anesth though :( but more of my the first four rotations thoughts in this previous blog entry: My First Clerkship Blog

Ags on MICU endorsement :)

MICU team with our first encounter with now one of our favorite blocks of interns :)

The first time to actually learn what endorsement meant :p I remembered when we first heard the outgoing MICU clerk block during their endorsements and we were like, 'halaaaa. bakit ang galing galing na nila? huhu wala pa akong alam :o' This was followed by Neuro which was the stormy days, thus the no pictures. but it was definitely one of the most difficult clerkship rotations :o

and then there's THE IM wards. The rotation that most clerks dread, but it was really one of the rotations I enjoyed most :) And although we would be clerkless for our IM rotation which  would be our first rotation as interns, I am still excited :)

love love IM learning :) plus we have the best JWAPODs and seniors :) that it actually makes me sad, because we are clerkless in IM, as incoming interns, we would have no opportunity to 'pay it forward' and actually share whatever we know like how our beloved interns shared what they know to us :)

our IM team with our duty donuts :)

The very people who were always there para sumalo ng trabaho kapag nag BRP ka na. :) I remember the first day of IM wards coming from a post duty status and being pre duty with all the SIC stuff and the monitoring na maiiyak ka na lang pala talaga. Thank you to my service mates and sister service <3

The first rotation where we appreciated each and every member of our whole block :) love love block 3 :)

and more of my IM love here: dahil namimiss ko ang IM :p

This was followed with the 'small four', ortho, rehab, ophtha, ORL :) big experiences :)

My only ortho picture, during alfie's birthday :) Dito lang ata ako naging toxic, kamusta naman ang very quality Ortho ER cases tapos meron pang endorsement the next day. :))

REHAB! aka movie and benign days :p We were even invited to join the rehab halloween party :

These four rotations we took as subblocks, and our love for each other goes on and on and on :p I have no pictures for ophtha and ORL, but these four rotations actually make me thankful that I am not eligible to apply for the track positions, because they are rotations that I'd gladly take again this internship. saktong halo ng skills, learning at benign-ness :)

GenPed 4 with my interns and residents. love love genped 4 <3

with the interns who made pedia ward more than bearable <3 Thank you for the many many times that you assisted me with procs and difficult patients :) Sana sa internship ko, matulungan ko din ang magiging clerks namin haha.

Next set of pictures from Nico Rogelio :) and next set of pictures already show how much love we have for these interns :)

Sana manalo uli si yvette santiago this year :p

We were lucky enough that the pedia ER was closed during our time. and then my most favorite part of pedia: catcher!
and see benign talaga ako :p actually kami ni kuya bon (intern) ay tried and tested na sa ophtha ER, after another CBR duty with only one patient at 6 am ;)
and more pedia realizations here: because it's Christmas :)

We were welcomed back to the hospital with the Family Medicine rotation which meant breakfast together and block bonding :)

after one thursday conference :)

Community Post <3
always love and always will love community. makes me excited for the rural community post this coming internship :)

and our final rotation: OB!:) a lot of learning and skills acquired in this rotation, thanks again to our ever supportive residents and interns, service A for the win! :)

My first ever alphabetical grouping at mukhang last din :p iiwan na nga lang tayo ni Alfie, please lang, wag niyong pasakitin ulo ko sa internship ha! joke :p thank you for keeping up with me bossing you around for the past years. sometimes. i think sometimes lang naman. haha.

these two kept me sane not only for this clerkship exams week but ever since LU4 :) Thank you to both of you for adopting me into your friendship :) kahit na mukhang hindi na tayo magiging magkablock, magkakasama pa rin naman ata tayo :D

The Preparation.

How do you put 100 days of preparation, 4 days of examination and 3 days of waiting in one blog entry? You can’t. Haha. So I’m making this a 3 part entry. That very long hiatus from writing and this heart full of emotions had led me craving to write my heart out. So indulge me. I don’t think I would be able to encapsulate all the emotions in that one of a kind journey which led me to where I am today. But I would still try because having that experience is something that I would love to look back to (definitely not do again) but something that I would like to read about when I feel like strolling down my memory lane. It started the day after the review center (Topnotch medical board prep) orientation where we were welcomed with a wake-up call, the board examination is about three months away - 106 days to be exact. Will it be enough? Probably. And then came the diagnostic exams where in there was really the doubt of whether it will be enough.  Parang hindi . But it was...

Life Lesson #50: of secrets and lies

I woke up hearing a story, of how everything would end. Of trust issues, and lies and secrets getting piled up to destroy something special, something sacred, something we thought was worth fighting for. Why hurt each other when you vowed to love each other eternally? It says that with love comes pain but when do you say that you've suffered enough? When do you draw the line of loving and letting go? Love. Prayer. Hope. That's all left to do when everything starts falling apart. Continue loving cause in love we may find forgiveness, pray cause in Him we'll never be wrong and hope that there will always be a better future ahead.
