Alas! It's July :) A month has passed and yes I'm enjoying my third year in medical school :) Now here's a little something to summarize my busy busy month and remind myself of the great things that has happened :)
What better way to start my month but by seeing friends from long ago. I met with my chemistry college loves, my high school best friend whom I haven't seen in years and my chemsoc loves as well. These people are true living proofs of what friendship is, and how true friendship should be. a relationship that can stand distance and time. and that after a long long time, even with the many changes in our lives right now, the friendship remains - even with a simple lunch, dinner or a game over monopoly deal. I feel so blessed to have these people as my friends :)
May 30, 2012 - my college buddies kate and me-an at our house with my creative drawing of our friends, rhoux shyne, shang and OG using my new ipad pen from robert. next time, let us be complete :)
June 1: with my highschool bestfriend, dona at yakimix trinoma after not seeing each other for almost 2 years. yey for food and catching up on a LOT of things :)
June 9: with my chemsoc batchmates, go 06A! christian, jonathan, angel and cha (fresh from the outside world with lotsa money!:p) at the tambayan farewell party. :)
this is our tambayan, my home for three years in the college of science, institute of chemistry. It was time to say goodbye and put into heart all the memories. because the only tangible thing that i have with UP Diliman, my org's home and the halls where I actually sat and roamed around shall be replaced with something new. atleast, all for the better :)
our logbooks through the years. i definitely miss chemsoc :)
You see, I'm really an org person, or atleast, life is happier knowing that i have people who i share the same values with. If i have chemsoc in college, then I'm blessed to have RSO in medschool. It took me a while to realize how much blessed I am to have them as my family in medical school. took some few wrong turns, but eventually found my way back to them and they did welcome me back with open arms, yes much like a prodigal son (daughter) :) and i'm thankful that I have spent the last year with them and again this year, pursuing our vision and living by our mission - to be of service to the underserved.
Even though they are the main reason why I have had a very busy month, and although, once or twice the thought of what if I don't have a position crosses my mind, I just remind myself of what a friend said to me while I was ranting. "Isipin mo na lang yung mararamdaman mo pagkatapos ng isang event na inorganize niyo, masaya diba?" and yes, it's a happy feeling. and it is definitely more than worth it :) So thank you to this organization, which has become a venue for me to express the side that medschool might be repressing. and here are the few reasons why though June is a busy busy month, I am happy :)
TAMBAY HOP - June 5, 2012; a venue for the new batch of UPCM students to know their must-knows upon entering the College of Medicine and get to know the different organizations in the college as well :)
Our giveaways for the tambay hop are bag tags based on our statement shirt designs :)
with one of the groups during the tambay hop and the RSO members :)
Team building - June 12, 2012; one of the concrete proofs on what my friend said, that even with all the stress that would make me want to just stop and be pasaway. After this wonderful event, mainly organized by our committee, then there is more reason for us or at least for me to push forward and go on. :)

yes, it was a rain or shine event. i would have literally sun-danced this day for it to be successful, and it was! yey!:)
the externals committee :) go Exte!
the publications committee :) go Pub!:)
the finance committee and the champions of the amazing race :) go fin! pera pera lang yan :D
we culminated the session with a pin-giving as a reward for the renewed commitment of the older members for the organization :) my buddy giving me the pin, and look at my giddy face! haha. cause that pin, is also my baby <3 yey :)
Igsuon Dinner - June 15, 2012; a night of fun, food and friendship, the three f's that usually define RSO events :) Igsuon is a bisaya term for kapatid because at this night, we informally welcome the newest babies of our organization - RP2017!:) Thank you ivan balmadrid for these photos!:)
new people. new friends. the next faces of my beloved organization :) for the nation!:)
go region 4B!:) Kulang na lang tayo ng isa kumpleto na natin ang MiMaRoPa!:)
can you feel the happiness? I do :)
PPP - June 18, 2012; RSO is lucky to have our batch :p really :) and we try our best to sustain this rso bond by having our own bonding sessions, dubbing it as PPP or party party party :) food at Greenwich and fun with friends and eating truffles too!:)
kulang pa kami nito, we're actually 57 in the group and counting! :) next time, dapat kumpleto na :)
RSO Org Post Immersion Processing - June 22, 2012; we had our org immersion this year at Quezon, Quezon, something that I wasn't able to fully write in detail anymore but something that has definitely etched my heart and mind :) this lovely friday afternoon with our field preceptor, Dr. Lopao and our different community health professors in the UP College of Medicine, we had another processing so we can remind ourselves of the real essence of the experience beyond the laughter, the fun and the bonding and remind us of the promise to be a group who will serve as a counter culture of what most people and doctors are today :) I feel so blessed to have experienced that immersion last summer :)
from Doc Lopao: UPCM counterculture <3 go RSO!:)
and because we're clique-ish and clingy like that, a post post summer processing picture taking at the stones from daniel florendo :)
MNB Worksession and exhibit - June 23 and 28, 2012. one of the main events of the organization is the Mukha ng Bakasyon, where students from the UPCM showcase their talent for photography or at the very least, where students can show the faces of the vacation and at the same time promote the different beautiful places in the country and the value of service that our organization promotes as well :) pictures from hazel soriano :)
this was also a venue for shooting videos for selling our merchandise :)
with the fruit of our labor, the RSO camera!:)
on our way to the exhibit!:)
me looking at the pictures :D
with RSO and friends at the exhibit. yes, underneath all these happy and smiling people is the exhibit :) haha.
that basically sums up the org activities for june, but my life actually doesn't revolve around my friends and the organization and our activities alone. I also see to it that I have time for my family and the people I care about :)
Yakimix Lunch - June 4, 2012 where we celebrated our june celebrants in the family :) It was a happy lunch which could have been happier if we're complete :) maybe someday, again :)
Happy Birthday Kuya and Titos!:)
my pretty little cousin, Mikee. so cute!:)
A day with Andie and Ago - June 9, 2012; cause andie has a new baby brother, I had to come and visit!:) It was just a few days after baby Ago, or Vincent Santiago C. Castellano was brought home that Andie, my very cute inaanak was still having some adjustment issues. I played with her all day :) I really really love babies :) They make me happy plus they are really easier to please, and sometimes even easier to understand. ah kids!:D
from Robert, me and andie playing with the ipad and her blocks :)
counting the 'stairs' :)
very pilya and pretty little girl, mana sa ninang! haha :))
hello baby ago!:)
Run United 2 - Run for Health - June 17, 2012; Happy Father's Day Papa! :) and happy anniversary too (June 18). This drizzling Sunday, we supported my brother, Gerard on his 2nd 21k run where papa, mama and I ran for 5k again :) We started running last year, and although I only tried running for 10k once, I can actually say that I have significantly improved in the endurance part and that running together as a family is a great bonding activity and something that would let my parents have the much needed healthy lifestyle :) I can't particularly say I love to run, but it gives me the sense of fulfillment, after finishing one, and that for me makes me want to run more :)
my unofficial time for my 5k fun runs is usually 40 minutes. I never learned to run fast, but at least I can endure more now :) although, I sure have general body aches and weakness after every run. defintiely happens everytime haha.
i was photographed!:)) yeey :)) next time, I shall try that most photogenic or something photo. haha. this particular picture shows 'me-with-eyes-on-the-goal or something to that effect. hahaha.
with family :) after this particular morning, we celebrated dad's day and my parent's 24th anniversary (which reminds me that I am turning 24 this year - nooooo :p)
But aside from all these many roles and activities that I do and attend to, I am but a medical student. and I strive hard to be best at it :) I have survived the first three weeks of class, finished about two modules and had two exams as well :) One of the most memorable experiences I had include having to interact with someone who has HIV, but that deserves a separate blog, maybe sometime soon :)
and this week we are about to be studying cancers, something that I was actually really fascinated about since my mom and aunts and lola had cancer.
and for proof that I actually am a medical student:
SuJu girls - my blockmates, in one of our student facilitated discussions :) taken by honey jane dela cruz
and so that was june, tomorrow, is the first Monday of the month :) looking forward to another fun and learning filled but stress free (asa) July!:) and hopefully I can blog more and not just on a month's end :))
